Who we are
We are a small, local composting business in Lafayette, IN. We don’t compost like most businesses, we actually compost using worms (vermicomposting). At The Worm Company, we believe composting should be simple, clean, and accessible. In the Lafayette area, we collect household and restaurant food scraps and use worms to turn them into premium worm castings. These are rich in microbes and nutrients for your houseplants, gardens, and lawns.
With a background in agricultural labs, ag business, and agronomy, I (Blake) set out to learn how to vermicompost and produce quality vermicast. Or, in simpler terms, I set out to learn how worms could eat my garbage and turn it into rich fertilizer. Our goal is to provide a way for our community to compost and receive some of the benefits from composting with worms.
We believe that healthy soil is the foundation for everything—lush gardens, thriving houseplants, nutrient-packed vegetables, and vibrant fields. That’s why we make worm castings and composting solutions that bring life back into your soil, no matter what (or where) you’re growing.

Our Mission
To help our community reduce landfill waste and produce a quality product (worm castings) for our subscribers and others in the community. Whether you are in an apartment, a home with a lawn, or a local business, we make composting easy with doorstep/curbside pickups, quarterly worm casting returns for subscribers, and public education about the power of vermicomposting. We want Lafayette to be more sustainable and believe we can do so one bucket at a time.

The Worm Company was founded by someone who has spent a lot of time in fields. With a background in agronomy and agricultural lab settings, our founder has worked alongside farmers, gardeners, and growers of all kind to understand what makes soil truly thrive.
And that answer is always the same: life. When soil is alive—full of microbes, organic matter, and the natural processes worms bring—it feeds your plants better than any synthetic ever could.
